The traditional games include contests that are not known on worldwide sport. Thousands visitors enjoy being hosted in colorful giant tents and offered lot of whisky and beer. The judges and part of the participants wear Kilt, the traditional Scottish skirt. The tents, the joy, lot of whisky and the peculiar contests create a unique traditional atmosphere that promises exciting experience to all the visitors.

Some believe the roots of the Highland games date as far back as the 11th century, when King Malcolm III called a foot race to the summit of Craig Choinnich, near Braemar, in the hopes of finding the fastest runner in the land to become his personal courier. It follows reports of people with second homes or those with campervans travelling to the area in recent days.
